At aMoon, we are deeply committed to fostering growth and development within the Israeli HealthTech system. We have spearheaded and partnered with several initiatives aimed at supporting new players in the industry as they embark on exciting new ventures.
At the end of 2022, we proudly launched the inaugural LEAP cohort, which has recently come to a celebratory end. LEAP was a collaborative effort involving aMoon, 8200Bio, and Rabin Medical Center in partnership with AWS. This program, which was the first-of-its-kind, was designed to bring together exceptional tech talent and practicing clinicians to form the next wave of HealthTech startups. LEAP’s mission was to empower promising entrepreneurs and physicians to explore and create revolutionary solutions to unmet needs in the healthcare ecosystem. Of the 150+ applications we received, 28 participants were chosen to take part in the 14-week program consisting of clinical tours, workshops, validation sessions, lectures, panels, and more.
For us at aMoon, LEAP represented a unique opportunity to identify and support exceptional talent as they transition from the tech sector to healthcare. Often, we find that these individuals lack the necessary resources and know-how to successfully make the transition. LEAP played an important role in breaking down the complexities of healthcare and making it seem less overwhelming. The program also sought to discover skilled individuals within the medical sector who had a strong understanding of the space but lacked the hands-on experience in initiating new ventures. Our overall goal was to provide them with essential knowledge and facilitate connections with entrepreneurs and tech experts.
Throughout the program, we were continually impressed by both the quantity and caliber of participants willing to step out of their comfort zones. These individuals, who had achieved considerable success in their respective fields, embraced new challenges in an unfamiliar sector with great eagerness. We were amazed by how fast participants were able to come up with innovative ideas and quickly validate them to build their new ventures.
Our collaboration with 8200Bio, Rabin Medical Center, and AWS marked another highlight of this initiative. It provided a unique and meaningful platform for each partner to showcase their respective strengths and contribute to the broader Israeli ecosystem. The combination of Beilinson’s Innovation team, the skilled talent pool at 8200Bio, and the market expertise and G2M know-how of the AWS team, enabled us to come together and deliver value with a collective impact that exceeded the sum of its individual parts.
We’re already looking forward to the next cohort and are excited to see the novel projects it will bring. Initiatives like LEAP hold the potential to unite the extensive clinical expertise found in Israeli hospitals with the robust tech and entrepreneurial talent within our startup ecosystem, offering the promise of significant advancements in the Israeli healthcare sector.
